Earth Organ (1987)
I had been overdubbing Casios microtonally since 1986 and transferring the approximated results to acoustic instruments (marking notes with % signs). With Earth Organ I decided to create a piece with this setup for its own sake. I then included it on a proposal sent to a performance space and as a kind of joke I called the project "The World Casio Quartet". Next thing I know, the space said they wanted the World Casio Quartet. But, since everyone had Casios at that point, I merely asked three players from the Flatland Oscillators and the WCQ was born.
